Reports of the Committee

Carbon Market Update: This is a PowerPoint presentation that is updated periodically, as changes occur in the emerging carbon markets. (See Carbon Market Update ; the compressed Notes for each slide can be opened in another window).

The Committee was originally charged with completing two reports. The first report describes the legal, organizational and economic situation has been completed. The second report assesses the physical potential to store carbon in Nebraska land will be completed in early 2002.

Carbon Sequestration, Carbon Emissions and Nebraska - Background and Options

This report focuses on policy, regulations, law and the economic (market) potential for a new carbon commodity.  This (potential) new commodity is the carbon stored in forest, crop and grazing land.

Three background papers were developed for use by the Committee in writing this Report. The Committee synthesized and summarized material from the (Adobe Acrobat Reader required) Legal, Market, and Mechanisms papers. These papers were prepared under contract for the University of Nebraska Public Policy Center.
